​Cheerleading at Harvard traces its roots back to the mid-nineteenth century, when student spirit leaders rallied support at athletic events. Among these early cheerleaders was future U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who cheered at Harvard from 1900 to 1904. Over time, the program evolved into the formalized, coeducational, and competitive team that exists today.

Harvard Cheerleading entered the competitive cheer scene in 2008, debuting at two local competitions and earning first place in the college coed division at both events. Since then, the team has continued to grow competitively and now travels annually to the NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. Most recently, in 2025, Harvard Cheerleading placed 4th in the Advanced All-Girl Division I category.

Beyond athletics, the team is committed to service and leadership within the Harvard community. Members participate in community service initiatives and annually represent recipients of the Major H award. Through athletics, service, and community engagement, Harvard Cheerleading promotes personal growth, team excellence, and school spirit while representing Harvard University on both the collegiate and national stage.
